Offering live music and entertainment four to five nights-a-week, the Opera House is your destination for entertainment. National touring acts such as Kip Winger, Frank Hannon (Tesla), Ryan McGarvey, Hamilton Loomis, Big Bill Morganfield, Kenny Neal, and Great American Taxi have graced our stage. Our passion lies in supporting the diverse local music scene! The hottest regional bands consider the Dickens Opera House their home base.

This ain’t your grandparents’ opera house!

Originally built in 1881 by William Henry Dickens a relative of the famous author Charles Dickens, William Henry came to the area in 1860 as a young man, the son of Mary Allen.

When he built the opera house he was one of the largest land owners of the time. The parcel that the building sits on was given to his father by Ulysees S. Grant, the president.
